I will break my own rule....

.... just this once.

The problem is as follows:

The government of Venezuela, in recent years, went from the hands of bastards at the hands of other bastards. Nothing changed except the level of education of the bastards in power. And by education I do not mean just at school and university... no. THAT is the problem, and those who came before are at fault, those who never cared to educate Venezuela, because an educated population is harder to lie to and to manipulate. Then came a degenerative process to our society and economy. How sad, huh? Oh, so I'm wrong? Very well then, tell me which of the Venezuelan presidents (from Perez Jimenez to present times) would have been successful in countries like Sweden, Germany, Japan, Switzerland and even France and England. Do a comparison and see that, the closer to present times, the less chance the guy has! Because populism and demagoguery, which are the best friends of whomsoever wants to govern around here, do not work elsewhere.

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he eats forever.
Then you get a fish, and what do you do? You ask for another one the next day and hope all is well. Meanwhile, your future is going to hell, because you know not how to fish; and meanwhile you learn to hate those who know how to fish; meanwhile you fanatically protect whomsoever gave you a fish.

Germany and Japan went through hell after the war, which ended in 45. Some 10 years later we had a dictatorship, we got rid of it and we were enjoying a good economy. Germany and Japan, WITH EVERYTHING THEY WENT THROUGH are way better than we are today.

Thank you very much to all Venezuelan presidents for handing out fish for everyone.

PD: Fucking politicians make me made this my first post of the year instead of a reckoning of all the nice things about last year. A plague on them. ALL OF THEM.

Yup. 100% on the dot, so what are you going to do about it?

What's done is done. We need to start fresh. We need new laws and legislature that protect the Commonwealth from populism.

A new constitution is needed or current one amended to include more requirements to bring come president of the nation, it is a management job, it should have someone with training.

I also think that the constitution should include a premise that treats the "plan de gobierno"(can't come up with it's translation) as a contract and if it isn't upheld at the end of the term, the president and his team can be held accountable.

We can't keep treating presidential elections like they are elections for class president. A lot more is at stake and amy charismatic fool that says what everyone wants to hear will always win out over those that are actually capable.

What am I going to do about it? Nothing. Unfortunately I have no power to do what it's necessary, because what's necessary is to undo all the damage the lack of education has brought. How? By educating people, right? But how to deal with zealots that will reject all reason even if it's right in front of their eyes?

They have no food, no water, no electricity, no jobs... But nothing is wrong with Venezuela save for the opposing party, of course. And God save the president.

How do you deal with that? With an ignorance that has taken hold SO DEEP inside of them that they refuse to accept that maybe, just maybe, they are wrong?

Unfortunately to get rid of that you need to undo maybe 30 years of history, so here are your choices:
1.- Atom bomb
2.- Concentration Camps
3.- Maximus Decimus Meridius
4.- Begin a process of teaching values, of thinking about the future, and realizing that we are close to rock bottom and that we should be like the aforementioned countries.
5.- Ask some other country, most likely U.S.A., to come and conquer us, thus making us another Puerto Rico of sorts

Of those 5, 1 through 3 are rapid solutions, but are brutal? Who has the balls to do it? Because I don't know if I could do it, even if I had the power. 4 would take forever... I don't have the patience. And 5, you have to ask yourself: Is it even possible nowadays for that to happen?

So nothing. I will do nothing other that burn some tires and write about it I guess
